INTERMEDIATE GRAPHIC DESIGNER POSITION SUMMARY

Intermediate Graphic Designers fall between the junior and senior designers and usually already have a professional portfolio. They also are confident in their ability to use the Adobe software suite, and can be relied upon for high quality execution on projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• An intermediate designer is able to be an integral part of larger design campaigns and will often take on smaller projects independently.

• Has the freedom to take on design briefs and implement them, from concept to completion, but will still be overseen creatively by a Senior Graphic Designer.

• Intermediate Graphic Designers are responsible for the design through production of marketing materials, branding campaigns, websites and so on. In addition, they will be introduced to limited interaction with clients under the supervision of senior staff.

• Can be trusted to create product photos that are in line with pre-existing methods as well as help to establish new methods

• Helps review/critique final layouts and suggests improvements if required

• Design concepting/ideation, creates a variety of design options for a single project. And can explain design choices in critique.

• Saves all files in accordance with established file saving protocols.

• Logo/Icon development

• Works collaboratively with other designers on projects.

REQUIREMENTS

• 4-year degree or equivalent (BF or BFA in Graphic Design, Applied Visual Arts, Multimedia, etc)

• 2 + years design experience

• Solid understanding of design programs (Adobe Suite)

• Excellent attention to detail

• Strong eye for design

• Some experience with printing, web, photography a plus.

• A desire to improve their design skills in a positive environment

JR. GRAPHIC DESIGNER POSITION SUMMARY

Junior Graphic Designers are often young students fresh out of college or who are finishing up their degree and are employed through an internship.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Junior designers usually require mentorship through a majority of their duties.

• Layout pages

• Draw logos/icons, redraw logos/icons

• Takes on the basic duties that help them get to know the ins and outs of graphic design.

• Work on multiple aspects of one project but will take on only one or two tasks at a time.

• Can take product photos for existing categories with pre-established methods & techniques.

• Post production work on photos, including cut out and image enhancements & color corrections

• Saves files in accordance with established file saving protocols, often seeks instruction from graphic

• Works collaboratively with other designers on projects.

• Participate in group critiques

REQUIREMENTS

• Has or is working on a 4-year degree or equivalent (BF or BFA in Graphic Design, Applied Visual Arts, Multimedia, etc)

• 0-2 years design experience

• Basic understanding of design programs (Adobe Suite)

• Attentive to details

• A passion for design, print, web and photography

• Developing a good eye for design

• A desire to improve their design skills in a positive environment
