The Visual Art & Design Department is proud to present the 2018 Guest Artist Series.

JJ HARRISON is an illustrator and author of children’s books, comics, and games. He graduated summa cum laude from Utah Valley University with a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Communications.

While in his senior year, JJ started his own company, BAM POP!, aimed at designing arts and crafts products for children, and was quickly featured in international design books and publications. He went on to become a prolific freelance illustrator and illustrated many bestselling and award winning titles including Adventure Time: Playing with Fire, A Die Hard Christmas: The Illustrated Holiday Classic, and Llama Llama and Friends.

His art has been sold in some of the world’s most popular art galleries including Gallery 1988, Nucleus, Mondo Gallery, and Hero Complex. He’s also worked for top entertainment and publishing companies like Cartoon Network, Penguin Random House, Disney, and Nickelodeon.

JJ is a co-founder of a game studio, Braintreehouse. Based in Lindon, Utah, Braintreehouse creates cheerful games of all kinds.

Having a job in the field you love doesn’t mean youll always love it. Set against the backdrop of his own colorful career working for some of the biggest entertainment companies in the world, artist JJ Harrison explores how to find joy and success as a creative even when it can be a total drag.

Misplaced Showcase Year 01
“Misplaced Showcase” was created by a group of local artists to connect creative people, embrace the process of making art and promote the local scene. This free event will feature a variety of art forms, including illustration, urban art, comic books, prop making, toy building and more. Local enthusiasts and aspiring artists can attend hands-on workshops, lectures and build connections in the professional art scene.

This Event is Free & Open to SLCC Students & Our Guests of the Community.

Film Viewing by Trina Polta

Trina Polta will have a film viewing on Saturday at 1PM.

VAD GD Alumnus Elizabeth Brown and her design department will be taking the day off to attend as will another alumnus, Courtney Colvin.
