“The days are getting shorter and it’s cooling down a bit, which has been wonderful. Although I do love Fall I don’t really love the darkness and cold that comes with it. It seems like so many people love Fall but I’m definitely a Spring-Summer lover. Which is your favorite season and what do you love about it? Image is my Spring Meadow print for @sondeflor

“A couple patterns for a collection called Again & Again, released last fall by @americancrafts and @pinkpaislee. Probably the first floral I ever attempted that I didn’t want to immediately delete from my computer… I love – and hate – the challenge of trying new things and cultivating different skills. Since this pattern, I’ve become much more fond of creating florals!“
“Daisies for days… Did you know Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom named their baby girl Daisy? As in DAISY BLOOM??”
“If I married @thekillers Brandon Flowers (unlikely), my name would be Lauren Waters Flowers, and I would just LOVE THAT.Ah well… @ American Crafts”

“Did anyone notice the reference to Cross Heart in my book? It’s a patch on the backpack of the girl in the museum. That’s the logo my daughter Priya made for her comic book series Cross Heart Chronicles (issues 1 and 2 available in my Etsy shop now, issue 3 should be available before the end of the year).”

“Launched, baby!🌟🌟Belle et Noir is a women’s boutique in the Greater Los Angeles Area, with a mission to bring focus back on helping women love what they wear, and love how they feel. I got to help redefine the direction of the brand with logo design and a restructuring of the online store – in the next few days I’ll be sharing more assets that I have created! Enjoy this little beaut of a logo.”
“My favorite part about working with Belle et Noir Boutique was creating and updating the UI to be something that was refreshing and simplistic + adding a little stylish flair. Shopping with them is now even better using your phone!”

“Fresh off the block, the new Belle et Noir Boutique website! The key focal points that make the site shine is the photography and the polished, clean, sans-serif typography.
The goal was to create a brand vision, a personality that shoppers could get behind – and lay the foundation for the branding to grow and evolve into a recognized name brand clothing and product line.”
“Finally painted on a rock that I’ve had for at least 20 years! I decided to put it in a flower bed in my back yard, so that helped me decide what to put on it. Working on my hand lettering skills!”

“Hello friends👋I have some exciting news! My new Activism series is now up on my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/DesignsbyNatalee). I will be donating 25% of all sales in my shop to the American Civil Liberties Union from now until the end of the month. Your purchase/donation will help in ending police brutality, demanding racial justice, and fueling the legal battles and urgent advocacy efforts. I love and appreciate all the support I have had with this new series and know that if we all work together we can create change.”#artforchange#blm#blacklivesmatter#wearetogether

“Something I haven’t really mentioned here is that I battle a few mental illnesses. The past several years have been quite the struggle and let’s just say I stopped creating. As I’m healing, I’m trying to find my creative self again. It’s a fight, but I’m working on it. It’s such an accomplishment for me when I create something I’m happy with.”
Sorry in advance Grandma, my designs have naughty words on them.”
Jenna: “Happy launch day! Rock’n Momma just dropped their first Collaboration Collection, Fierce Feminist, online and in stores.

“Today’s a good day, my friends at Baby and Buddy Animal Rescue just released their new logo I designed for them! B&B does such a wonderful job providing care, compassion, and constant care for their animals – I’m so happy that I was able to help them find a logo that reflected these things.
Just for fun, I also designed some t-shirts, totes, and hats to show off their new look. Follow them on FB and Instagram for some quality pupperoni content!”

“Not every design makes it into a paper collection. This clever girl didn’t make the cut, but I decided to keep her around anyway.🤷🏻♀️
Tomorrow begins my first full week back in the office after quarantine. It’s done a lot for me emotionally and psychologically to be back in my work environment. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a total homebody… Just not a work-from-homebody.🙅🏻♀️Things may change once again (please no), but until then I’m happy with this little slice of ‘normal.‘”😷🤲🏻🧼
“4 recent drawings I’ve done that look pretty cool together.”

“It has been an honor to spend the last week reflecting on some of my black heroes and sharing their messages and faces. Due to Covid and caring for my family, I cannot risk going to protests. However, it was not an option for me to not contribute to this movement in some way, so I decided to do what I do: create.
I hope these have given some meaning to someone out there. I am considering making some prints and donating the profits to the Black Lives Matter Global Network. If anyone is interested in something like that, please let me know. If not, feel free to save these digital copies. I also have PDF files for anyone who would prefer to print at home: bit.ly/helenalux-black-heroes. Much love to everyone right now during this crazy but important time in human history.”

“I needed to take a small break from painting this week. While looking through some old photos, I found this picture of Hudson and I in the Japanese Tea Gardens in San Francisco a couple years back. It’s been a cherished memory. We had such happy expressions on our faces I chose to recreate the picture in my sketchbook with some of my Art Nouveau touches.”

“June marks my third anniversary at @americancrafts . I haven’t used this space much to curate my 9-5 work, but I think I’d like to change that…
Let’s kick things off with some dinos, shall we? A couple weeks ago I finished reading Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. Then over the weekend a friend rented out a theater to have a viewing of the original JP film. Seeing it larger than life was something else…🤩So I’m commemorating the occasion by sharing some of the dinosaurs I contributed to a @shimelle paper collection called Field Trip. They all look pretty friendly – just don’t get too close.”🦕🏝🌋🦖
