“My coworkers decided to start a weekly oil painting night. So of course I had to join. I haven’t painted with oils since my figure painting class in college. Had to admit for a first attempt I feel pretty good. Looking forward to to next week already!! “ @ Lindon, Utah

“‘The truth is… I am Iron Man.’ I first had a more elaborate design and composition in mind, but while I was making it I thought something simple and bold would be more effective.

“I worked through and scrapped 3 different ideas until I landed on this. I’m really happy with how it turned out.”

I’m really proud of the material. ’till then I hope you like the artwork.”

“The Annual AIGA Student Portfolio Review is designed to serve undergraduate students from Utah State University, Weber State, University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College, Utah Valley University, Brigham Young University and Southern Utah University.” ~ AIGA SLC

AIGA Salt Lake City’s Student Portfolio Review is always a great event for students to gain advice, insight and industry information from SLC professional designers as well as design and illustration faculty from Utah colleges.

SLCC Visual Art & Design Department Associate Professor Kerry Gonzáles and Assistant Professor Virag White, both in the Graphic Design specialization, joined their advanced students at this year’s event. Both said they were very proud of the six VAD Graphic Design students who showed their portfolios and were reviewed by creative directors and faculty from other institutions.
