Hate to call this a contest but… It’s a Contest!

The SLCC Hispanic Latino Student Association is in need of a professional logo. The current logo, according to students, is something that they just can not identify with.

Options are a good thing and that is where you, design/art students come in. You get to contribute your personal take on the logo; redesign, reinterpret  and so on. This could be a great portfolio piece if your logo is selected. Still interested? I know you are!
Here are some of the characteristics of the Hispanic culture and students, as provided by Claudia Gutierrez-SanchezAcademic Scheduling & Curriculum Department Co-Advisor, Hispanic/Latino Student Association, that might help with the redesign

-Colorful (but sometimes there is a need to print in grayscale)
-Modern
-Professional
-Versatile

this logo will be printed and/or embroidered on t-shirt/hoodies/other apparel such as folders, mugs, etc. So it can’t be too complicated or we will have problems with printing or designing.
Optional if they want to represent the Latin American countries. This includes all of Central and South American countries in addition to Mexico (which is part of North America)

This logo also needs to have a condensed thumbnail version so we it can fit as a thumbnail on FB or flyers. Below is our website and facebook account for your reference.

Lastly, the student organization is almost completed self-funded by students so they are not allotted a budget but as an appreciation they would like to offer the student with the winning design a $50 VISA gift card.

NEWS: INK LOGO Design Contest

As a new student group dedicated to visual art, INK is ready to establish branding. So without further ado, we’d like to officially announce the INK Logo Design Contest. After all, who could define us better than our members?

LOGO DESIGN BRIEF
Design a logo for INK – The Student Visual Art & Design Group

Target Market
The target market is other visual art students and professionals primarily in commercial print related fields. While INK is a local organization, we seek an identity that is appealing on a national level.

INK should be positioned as professional, smart and approachable. We want others to understand that we take our craft seriously but we’re not elitists. We’re an academic group that encourages creative and professional advancement and seeks to nurture peer-to-peer relationships in the visual art community.

Requirements
The logo must function in a black and white and two color version (your submissions will be black and white only, but a 2-color scheme may be applied to the winning design). The logo must be legible at both large and small scale in a variety of contexts. Develop a unique and significant design that conveys the essence of INK’s attitude and main functions.

RULES
The contest is open to INK members ONLY. Your design must be original. You may submit more than one unique entry.

DEADLINE
Your printed black and white designs are due on Tuesday, November 15th by 5pm, during the next INK meeting.

We’re choosing our visual voice here so remember that your vote counts. It is highly recommend that submissions be made in person. If you cannot attend, you will miss the opportunity to vote. However, you may still e-mail your electronic entries to inkslcc@gmail.com by 3pm on Tuesday, November 15th to ensure that your entry is presented for voting.

Late entries will not be considered.

JUDGING
3 finalists will be voted on by the group. The INK officers and advisers will determine the winner out of the 3 finalists.

PRIZE
The winning entry will claim INK’s logo in their portfolio. The new logo will also appear on all  INK advertising, collateral, promotional materials and on the website.
