Sisters, Sisters!

From Kerry Gonzáles:
“I’ve had the distinct pleasure of being an instructor to many wonderful students including both Jill De Haan and her younger sister, Missy Turner in the Graphic Design program at Salt Lake Community College.

It’s been a delight to watch their careers grow as they are both very talented women. Current students benefit from viewing Jill & Missy’s student work as well as professional work.

I’m so proud of Jill & Missy and ALL my former students whatever they do and wherever they go! And I love sharing all these wonderful stories.

“Guys! I’m doing an AdobeLive event for the next couple of days with some amazing folks and I’ll be talking about Fontself, my process and what have you! Tune in if ye like!” 🎀

AIGA Salt Lake City’s 2016 Student Portfolio Review is always a great event for students to gain advice, insight and industry information from SLC professional designers as well as design and illustration faculty from Utah colleges.

SLCC VAD Associate Professor Kerry Gonzales and Adjunct Instructor Virag White, both in the Graphic Design program, joined their advanced students at this year’s event. Kerry and Virag were able to review students from other institutions. Both said they were very proud of the VAD Graphic Design and Illustration students who showed their portfolios and were reviewed by creative directors and faculty from other institutions.

Graphic Design students Anastasiya Bobrova, Todd Erickson, Missy Healy, Erin Salazar, and Illustration students Trevor Anthony Quong, Jennifer Mellen, and Ryan Winward were among those showing portfolios. Their student peers in the VAD Department cheered these students on.

Kolbie Carver, a former and now returning VAD student, and VAD Graphic Design Alumnus John Paul Brantly, now finishing his BFA at Utah State University, were also spotted showing portfolios.
