“Just like when I was a student, I always make 3D dummies of large print projects. This not only helps me visualize how the print will look in 3D space, but it also helps the client see what the final result will look like. I think clients sometimes have a hard time picturing the final result of a flat-looking illustrator file, so dummies are essential! Here are the dummies I made for the vending machine project.”

This logo was created for my good friend Eliott Wilson, a licensed massage therapist who just started his own business after working in the massage industry for 10+ years. He wanted something that was text only with a wide, short font. I really love how it turned out! If you’re in the Salt Lake Valley and are in need of a great massage therapist, you can schedule an appointment with Eliott at so-massage.square.site

“Katrina here! I’ve completed the first piece in my Ukraine series. This piece is painted on an 18”X24” stretched canvas and framed in an old ornate wooden frame. This piece will be put up for sale at the Ukraine Show at @galleryon28 this weekend on May 27th, 28th and 29th from 10am-8Pm. Art prints will also be available to order at the show in a variety of sizes. All proceeds will go towards assisting displaced Ukrainian refugees. This weekend will be this pieces first gallery debut so I hope you will stop by to come see it in person along with all of the other amazing artwork that will be on display by many local artisans of Tooele County. Thanks again to Gallery on 28 for putting on this show!”

“Some days it feels like we are just desperately reaching for hope.”

“This piece is complete and is making its debut at Gallery on 28 in Tooele for their Ukraine art show and fundraiser. I felt a lot of emotions while painting this piece that depicts Ukrainian refugees reaching for bread.”

Hudson Parkinson

“One product I really enjoyed working on for Market Square was a mini box of cards shaped like a store. It’s a concept we’ve done before, but it was fun to adapt it for this collection and put my own stamp on it. 🤩 So little!” 💕

“What do you do when the package you’re designing needs to print on a 34″ x 32″ sheet? You make a tiny scale model, just like you were told to in Package Design Class! And there I was, thinking I’d never use those mock-up skills! Kerry Gonzáles was right! Also, this tiny box is ADORABLE!!!!”

“I’m very proud of how my first official hand lettering project turned out, even if it’s for such a sad occasion. I wrote each word individually on another paper, then cut out my best ones and did a paste-up to get the right placement. Even adjusted the kerning in a few spots while I was at it.”

A “quick’ practice sketch in ink. I’ve got to get ready for #inktober this year.” 😅

“Another practice sketch. Not sure what this one is, but it was fun to draw.” 😁

“I’ve been working on some page layouts with dialog for #EmyandHerald Here is a preview of the first page with #sketches It wasn’t until I started studying layout design that I realized just how much of an art form it is. Leading the reader’s eye from one panel to the next, and trying to follow all of the rules about lettering is challenging, but well worth it.” 😊

Melanie Bunch

“A sampling of the illustrations that I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. My company has developed a new product, and I have written and illustrated the user’s guide. Now that the first drafts are complete, I think I’ll go draw things that don’t have straps and buckles and pockets…”

The (mostly) finished User’s Guide with the illustrations I posted earlier. Management reviewed this document in a meeting yesterday, and it received rave reviews! I wrote the text as well – and the only changes they made were very minor grammatical changes (2 of the managers are former school teachers).Since we make the same pockets on some of our seat covers, they now want a modified version for that. So….now I’ll be drawing more pockets and straps again….hooray!”
